Not only do I have a B.A. in English Literature from UNC Chapel Hill, but I have also passed the High School English Praxis and the Praxis PLT (7-12). In high school, I made a 1300 on the SAT Reading/Math portion. I also scored a 5 on the AP English Literature test. I have spent the last five months teaching with Teach for America in both Tulsa, OK and in Charlotte, NC. I am relocating to Raleigh to be with my family, and am looking for a tutoring position to keep my educator skills sharp before I return to Teach for America next year. I have a lot of experience working with students who have IEPs, and I use many differentiated teaching methods to reach students of all levels.

I love comic books! Not only are the characters and their worlds entertaining, but comic books do wonders for literacy! Setting, mood, onomatopoeia, theme, and many other literary devices are used in comic books cover to cover. I love reading comics, as well as collecting issues and creating my own.
