I have a sister that is nine years old, with 15 years in between us. I tutor her often with her math, English, writing and projects. She's a smart girl, but she rushes through her assignments and my main job is to keep her focused and to make sure she is retaining the curriculum. In addition to tutoring my sister AJ, I am a Head Coach with TGA teaching K-5 students tennis. I construct a curriculum and daily lesson plans for each class (6-8-10 week sessions) where I must instill values ( cooperation, respect, courtesy, honesty, sportsmanship, perserverance and positive attitude.) I also teach the physical aspects of tennis including forehands, backhands, drop/ overhead serves, as well as volleys. In addition to the physical skills, I teach the students about the history of tennis and the detailed rules of scoring and playing matches. At the end of each section they are tested on each skill and progress to the next program level when they succeed. Scores: SAT : 1780 ACT : 29 I would love to tutor and teach more because it is incredibly rewarding. I have learned so much through teaching about how children learn and retain knowledge over time. I enjoy the responsibility that teaching children entails. In high school as well as college my friends and classmates came to me to help them with their homework for various subjects and papers and I enjoyed helping them feel comfortable and proud of their work.
