Education
My love of math and science led me to originally major in engineering. I eventually branched out and found a love for history. Ultimately I received my Bachelors in History from the University at Buffalo (SUNY) earning Dean's List honors. My desire to help other and cultivate a love of learning steered me toward the path of education. After receiving my Bachelors degree, I immediately proceeded to earn with Honors my Masters of Science in Secondary Education from Queens College (CUNY). The warmer climate led me south and I landed here in North Carolina. I have been teaching social studies in Wake County Public Schools for more than 21 years.
Experience
I am a Nationally Board Certified Social Studies teacher, and have been so since 2001. I have been employed as a Social Studies teacher in Wake County since 1996 (at Leesville Road High School). I have taught almost all required social studies course (World History, American History I, Civics & Economics) as well as AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics. Most recently, 80% of my AP students scored a 3 or higher including 50% earning a 4 or higher.

Hobbies
When I am not teaching or preparing to teach (which doesn't leave a lot of time), I like to read, exercise, or watch hockey. But with the remainder of my time I dedicate my time to research of new education techniques to use with my students. Currently my son is a high school student in Wake County. I have been working with him to help ensure his academic success and I want to share my time to help other students do the same.
