Education
I majored in English at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree with a 3.5 GPA. I then began teaching in rural Eastern NC and headed the English Dept at both the middle school and high school level. My students excelled in End of Course tests, particularly in the writing component. I completed a Masters in Education degree in both English and Curriculum/Instruction at East Carolina University and also earned reading and gifted education certification. Upon completion of my two master's programs, I returned to my school district as Director of Curriculum, Testing, and Digital Learning.
Experience
Tutoring Experience - After school tutoring with students in need, help with research and editing for thesis papers and dissertations; led students in SAT prep. Classes taken - Education for Special Needs Students, many digital learning classes, i.e. 21st Century Learning Design, Improving Writing via the Writing Process, Project-based learning; Improving Critical Thinking; Teacher of the Year for my school district; taught many teachers techniques with digital learning throughout US and Caribbean so they can help their students. I want to be a tutor to help students achieve their highest potential by mastering the communication skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening and improving critical thinking skills. I am also interested in helping adults improve their literacy rate.
