I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010 with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. I am a Teach For America Alumnae. During my time with Teach For America, I spent a year earning my alternative teaching certification.
Experience
-Currently a 3rd Grade Teacher -Previously taught high school biology -Have tutored 3rd grade students preparing for the EOG, as well as biology students -Led after-school tutoring program at a high school -Have worked at Sylvan Learning Center as a tutor -Have experience coaching children of all ages in sports I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to work with individuals one-on-one, which I believe is much more effective than whole-group instruction. I am able to see results much more quickly and student engagement is much higher than it is typically in a whole group setting. I enjoy seeing struggling students overcome challenges and have success while working one-on-one with a tutor. I also like that I am able to tailor lessons to one particular student in order to most effectively address his or her needs and/or misconceptions.

Hobbies
In my personal life, I enjoy exercising, being outside, traveling, and working with others. I am originally from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and I love going to the beach. As a teacher, I am encouraging and always pushing my students to work toward their individual goals. I demand 100% effort, but I also make sure to incorporate fun and laughter in order to deeply invest students in their education. I enjoy working with children of all ages and have worked with children for most of my life.
