I have experience tutoring middle school students privately for a number of years, and as a part of a non-profit program in NY for three consecutive summers. AP Gov - 4 ACT - 30 In addition to my Political Science classes at Davidson, I've studied Spanish and Latin American culture extensively (courses include Latin American Politics, Spanish American Writers and 300 level Spanish language courses) Throughout my educational experiences, I have realized that learning continues far outside of the classroom. I enjoy helping students enhance their understanding of topics that are broached in the classroom. It is also very empowering for a student to walk back into their class knowing they have a firm understanding of the content because they were able to ask questions in a comfortable, low-stress setting. I find it very rewarding to participate in that experience. Over the years, I have sharpened my skill for distilling information down to its core and communicating it to different groups of people. I think that is crucial for being a successful tutor. I don't like to cram a square peg into a circular hole; if one way of explaining a particular topic does not work, I adapt my style and try something different.
