Education

Bachelor of Science, US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Undergraduate Pilot Training and Pilot Instructor Training. Much of my learning post-college was "on-the-job" and included work at high levels of the military in developing and maintaining friendly relations between nations of Latin America and Europe, interpreting and writing briefings for high-level dignitaries, and encouraging interpersonal relationships by peoples of different nationalities.

Experience

I am a retired 62 year-old Air Force pilot, widower with 6 children with my youngest child finishing 12th grade. I've had a career in the Air Force dealing with Latin American and European nations and teaching basic jet pilot instruction. After retiring from the Air Force, I taught Middle and High School English and Math, and ESL. I also taught at the Challenger Learning Center, including leading elementary and high school students on simulated space missions and conducting summer camps centered on learning science and math in a fun way. I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and thoroughly enjoy watching students learn something new. I have taught English and Math in the English language in private middle and high schools in the U.S., Portugal, Spain, and Brazil.

Hobbies

I enjoy travelling, and playing and coaching soccer. I love helping foreigners understand English and the American culture. I like playing board games, trying out good coffee shops and listening to your stories. I keep up on current events and enjoy discussing them as well. My teaching style can vary according to the needs and expectations of the student, from young to old. That is, I understand that different approaches are necessary for different personalities and capabilities and I adjust accordingly.
