I just received my bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, so I can empathize with my students' struggles. Not only am I a recent student, I have also worked in many different circumstances as a teacher. I've helped teach everything from lifeguarding to skiing, but my focus now is on tutoring English in all its forms. I want my students to not only understand, but enjoy, all aspects of their English classes, including reading, writing, editing, grammar, mechanics, phonics, literature, and more. It is important to stay motivated, so I work to understand what my students need and whether they have short-term goals or long-term aspirations. When a student takes the initiative to work on something new and difficult, they will discover a better version of themselves. Not only can I tutor English for all grade levels, but I also work with students on test preparation for the ACT. In my spare time, I love to read, because it helps me discover new perspectives. I also love to stay fit through snowboarding, weightlifting, skiing, and surfing.
