I am a private lesson instructor for woodwind, piano, and voice students. I am also a woodwind repair technician. I played clarinet all the way through college and was awarded an Honors Recital during my hearing (which meant I was allowed to play more music for my recital). I love being able to work with people individually as opposed to teaching a classroom because private instruction allows the material to be taught the best way possible for that specific student. Music Theory was my best music core subject in college. I loved learning all of the instruments as part of my college requirements. I have a fascination with learning how things work - which translated well when I was learning the instruments and also learning how to repair them. I use the app CamScanner on my phone to essentially copy and send (through email) any material from my books to my students when they need supplemental information to help their learning process. I have taught all ages (including adults - even ages 50+) and I have training in teaching music to children with disabilities. That training was one of the best things I have done because it doesn't just help me teach children with disabilities - it helps me teach everyone! It taught me how to observe how someone learns and take that knowledge and use it in my lessons to create a successful learning environment.

Hobbies

I have two cats that live with me - which is something you need to know if you are taking Theory lessons or Piano lessons in my home. I keep a fan with an air filter going at all times, but those who are allergic to cats may want to consider online tutoring. Despite my nerdiness with music and repairing instruments, I am a very "outdoorsy" type of person. I love being in nature, whether it's for a walk, camp, run, bike, hike, etc. (Lessons outside when it's nice out?!)
