Garrett Z.
Private tutor in Raleigh, NC
Education
I studied at North Carolina State University between the years of 2011 and 2015, earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Literature & Culture, with the added distinction ‘magna cum laude.’
Experience
My prior experience includes high school level tutoring, which I performed while shadowing different high school Spanish teachers in Wake County. I scored a 2040 on the SAT (670 Reading, 670 Math, 700 Writing). During college, I studied Spanish pedagogy and second language acquisition theory extensively through Assessment, Methods, and Linguistics for Professionals courses. I want to be a tutor because I hold education in very high regard, and believe that learning foreign languages is an important part of becoming better global citizens. While do not yet have a certificate to teach Spanish, tutoring is the best way I can pass on my knowledge.

Hobbies
I thoroughly appreciate music and musicians. I took piano and cello lessons in my youth, though the bass guitar, which I taught myself, was always my favorite instrument. I read a lot. Reading is an important part of our daily lives; it excites the imagination while exercising very important parts of the brain. My favorite American authors are Kurt Vonnegut and Don Delillo, and my favorite Hispanic author is Gabriel García Márquez.
