Education

I am rising junior Business Administration and Psychology major at UNC Chapel Hill with a 3.87 GPA. I attended Bishop McGuinness high school in Kernersville, NC and graduated as one of the top ten students in my class.

Experience

I have volunteered as an after-school tutor for K-5 students in the Chapel Hill school system, and I have had peer tutoring experience while in high school. Additionally, I have volunteered at several summer camps for children 4-10 years old giving me even more experience working with children. While in high school, I took several AP courses and received high marks on all of my exams. I also maintained a high GPA and scored well on both the SAT and the ACT. I'd love to be able to apply my academic skills through tutoring and be able to have a positive impact on other students. As a tutor I am able to share my enthusiasm for learning as well as impart some of the study skills and habits I have developed. (A note about availability: I am looking to tutor K-12 students during the upcoming summer and nest school year. As of right now I am studying abroad, but I will be available starting June 13.)

Hobbies

I enjoy learning more about the subjects I'm studying in school and spend a good deal of my time reading articles and watching videos related to them. My other favorite hobbies include reading, baking, and cooking. I really enjoy teaching others about the interesting connections you can make between what you learn in a textbook and the "real world." I find those connections to be helpful when learning new things because it can make learning more memorable and feel more important. Including real-world examples while tutoring is my way of making learning more engaging for even the most reluctant of students.
