I have a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Boston University, and a PhD in Economics.
Experience
I really do use math every day in my career. I studied economics in undergrad and grad school, and work as an environmental economist today. During my six years of grad school, I taught principles of economics, macroeconomics, and microeconomics. I've been tutoring my friends, neighbors, and classmates since high school. In undergrad, I realized my love of math and participated in mathematical modeling contests and directed study. As a Teaching Assistant in grad school, I gained experience in teaching and eventually became Instructor of my own classes. Through this experience I learned that you always learn something new when you teach someone else. I'm a PhD economist and mathematical modeler who would love to share my enjoyment of these subjects with you. I've tutored for middle school and high school level math, and have taught intro and intermediate level economics. I'm happy to tutor for algebra, geometry, calculus, economics, and related subjects at the high school or college level. I can also help with quantitative test prep (SAT, ACT, and grad school tests). My goal is to work with students so they gain a true understanding of the subject matter and learn some tips along the way for efficient problem solving.
