Education

I have 2 bachelors degrees from East Carolina University in Chemistry and English. I have completed all coursework for my masters in Analytical Chemistry and hope to finish my thesis soon so I can graduate! I have a TEFL certification from Escola i Mediterrani in Barcelona, Spain and have taught English as a foreign language for 1.5 years. In school, I also lead my own Chemistry lab classes in both Organic and General Chemistry and tutored for several years in both. I'm proud to say that any of my students that worked with me from early on in the semester had great grades!

Experience

2008-2012: Tutoring Algebra, Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry. 2013-2015: Teaching English as a foreign language I love learning new ways to teach. I believe that every person learns in their own way. Through creativity, I aim to challenge a students' belief in what they think is correct so that they don't doubt themselves when it matters. My previous students had far less self doubt walking into tests/quizzes than most other students. They all performed marvelously and we continued working together through the semester!

Hobbies

I love scuba! I just recently got my rescue certifications in it and am eager to dive more! I am an artistic and creative person that likes to approach the sciences and math in different ways than normal scientists do. I always found Chemistry challenging, and loving challenges, I continued on into the masters program. I believe that if you know a subject will be difficult for you, to get help early. I want to bring you peace of mind. It's easier to drop unnecessary help than to catch up later. This is why I always offer our first meeting free of charge (30 minutes to 1 hour) to ensure that you are comfortable working with me. I have experience teaching from ages 2 - past retirement, and am comfortable with any of those levels. I feel confident I can provide you with fun, quality tutoring in Algebra, General Chemistry, and/or Organic Chemistry. I can provide basic Spanish tutoring, English writing, English as a second language (and test prep for it) as well as violin lessons. I have played the violin for well over 10 years. I performed solos at Pearl Harbor Memorial in Hawaii as well as performed for weddings, the Governor, and the Mayor of Virginia. I look forward to hearing from you. See you soon.
